The Bill Dexter Quartet Biography

Bill Dexter, freelance trumpet player and vocalist from the Boston area studied at the New England Conservatory of Music. He formed his first band in Rochester, New York in the early 1970's catering to hotel lounges and nightclubs such as the Round Towner Hotel and Pipers III restaurant. Upon moving to New York City, in the mid 1970's he became a freelance trumpet player and cabaret performer working in such Appearances as the Helmsley Palace, the Duplex in Greenwich Village and Don't Tell Mama in the theatre district.

 

Since arriving in the Capital District he has performed at the MacHayden theatre as an actor in productions of Sugar Babies, Oklahoma and the role of Shamus in the Unsinkable Molly Brown. He has worked as a freelance musician in the Capital District performing at the Palace Theatre, the Polo Club at Saratoga and at the Saratoga Convention Center.

 

In 2003 he formed The Bill Dexter Quartet concentrating on the musical styles of Latin, Swing, Standards and Rock 'n Roll. The Quartet has performed for private functions such as weddings, anniversary parties, store openings and galas at Appearances such as Angelo's 677 Prime, The Desmond, Macy's, Thatcher Park, the Franklin Terrace, Casa Chiquis and The Crooked Lake House.
